From the beginning, my body carried both struggle and fire.

As a boy, I broke my tailbone and never received treatment. That wound left its mark—altered movement patterns that stretched across my right side like a curse. I didn’t know it then, but the road ahead would demand I confront those imbalances, forge myself anew, and rise stronger for it.

In those early years, I built my own training with whatever tools I could find. My mother’s old Total Gym became my proving ground. I saw progress, but I didn’t yet understand the full scope of what my body needed.

By middle school, the truth hit me hard: a doctor told me I had a weight problem. At 5’8” and already 200 pounds, my eating and sleeping habits worked against me. I carried the weight of poor choices and the stigma of being “different.”

High school into early adulthood sharpened that edge. I wanted to lift weights, but I was overweight, insecure, and intimidated. So I started small—running, simple dumbbell work at home. After graduation, I stepped into a real gym for the first time, and from then on, I programmed for myself, slowly carving away at my weakness.

At 24, I took a leap and became a certified personal trainer. That was when the real battle began. I studied my imbalances, confronted the dysfunction that had haunted me since childhood, and learned how to coach with purpose. Nutrition became a weapon, hydration a shield, and I felt my body begin to change.

Through my late 20s, strength training became my constant companion. Yoga entered the picture too, and with it came new insight into how to rebuild mobility, balance, and resilience. Piece by piece, I unlocked the doors that pain had closed.

In my 30s, I trained under a coach who introduced me to kettlebells. Their raw functionality and explosive power lit something inside me. I pushed deeper, working on the dysfunction in my right hip and shoulder, strengthening the core connections that had once been broken.

By 35, I recertified with NASM and reignited my training with new fire. This was the turning point. Proper programming, recovery, and focused nutrition brought me to the strongest, fastest, and fittest state I had ever known. I expanded my reach: Precision Nutrition Coach, ViPR coach, and a fitness coach for Man Flow Yoga. I am weeks from achieving my greatest physical test yet, StrongFirst Level 1, wherein I have already passed the grueling technical testing, and will soon conquer the final snatch test.

Now, my body is nearly fully rebuilt. My strength, speed, and endurance are higher than ever before—not by accident, but by consistent application of the right training, the right recovery, and the right mindset.

This is the story of my forge. The fire I endured became the fire I use to guide others.
